Honest : Friendly : Reliable
14th May 2012 : Once in a BLUE MOON Opportunity !!!
Sometimes things are just meant to be and no matter how long it takes, good things will come to those who wait.
Well as can be seen from these pictures, good things have come to our very own Gary Morgan in the form of his beloved Manchester City becoming Premiership Champions for the first time in 44 years. .jpg)
To celebrate and to share his indescribable joy, Gary has agreed to show a not often seen generous side to him and the Manchester born season ticket holder at the Etihad Stadium, has given the sales team licence to `Double the Discounts` that we would normally do, on any New or Used Motorhome in stock. .jpg)
This is a genuine spur of the glorious moment offer and is valid until the euphoria wears off, or until further notice on our web site. It is on new orders only, cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or deal previously agreed and it can only apply to customers who mention the Blue Moon web offer before they negotiate any other deal.

But it's a great offer, what some might say, a `Once in a BLUE MOON` offer, so grab yourself a top of the table deal now and share the joy.
.jpg)
Gary can been seen here at the game hob nobbing with Liam Gallagher (ex Oasis front man) and with David Silva, little Man City midfield magician after the game.
What is he like ???

11th April 2012 : RBM Special & Elddis Open Weekend 13th - 15th April
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR CUSTOMERS COMING TO OUR RBM SPECIAL & ELDDIS
OPEN WEEKEND : 13th - 15th April
Please note that due to an unforeseen, but nevertheless most welcome run on Elddis product sales over the last ten days or so, our stocks of Elddis & RBM Special Editions that we had hoped to have in for this weekend, have quite drastically reduced somewhat.
Despite this, we have thankfully managed to draw on a couple more vehicles direct from the factory today, but please note however, that sadly there will not be a full range of vehicles on show to view as we had anticipated there would be when we first planned this event several months ago.
With that said, there is still most of the range here to see and there will still be some fantastic offers on for the whole weekend. As well as this, there's some terrific low rate finance offers too.
And if that's not enough to tempt you, then perhaps the tea, cakes and biscuits available all weekend will ;-)
So we'll see you there hopefully !
5th April 2012 : We don't like to brag, but ......
We are very fortunate here at RBM because we get to do a pretty nice job by helping to fulfil the dreams of some really nice people.
Often, these people whom we have helped write in with some lovely comments and nice words of thanks, either by letter, post cards from where they are holidaying or even by email these days and so it is not that an uncommon occurrence for such letters to come our way. However today was an even more pleasing day than normal, as we managed to get three really nice complimentary letters all on the same day, and all for the same sales person, Richard Ackroyd.
We were going to publish all three letters in full, but it would really take up more space than is necessary to make the point. So instead we would just like to simply detail some of the comments made, thank those who made them and congratulate Richard and the team for their efforts in attaining such a good response so regularly.
Mr & Mrs Smith (Surrey) : Self confessed novices who expressed their thanks to Richard for his patience, his attention to detail, his assistance in helping them to chose the right vehicle and for collecting them from the train station. A professional service they said, that exceeding all of their expectations.
Mr & Mrs Hearld (North Yorkshire) : Wanted to say a `huge` thank you to the team, particularly Richard whom looked after them superbly. Again the `newbies` as they described themselves, appreciated the patience shown, the depth of detail that Richard went into for them and for being put at ease with no hard sell like they had experienced elsewhere.
Mr & Mrs Handscombe (Dewsbury) : Sent a wonderful picture of their new Amethyst (Amy) that they bought from Richard, from their first trip out. The picture featured Amy with some hills and an air balloon just rising in the background, a really great picture. They wanted to thank all the team for helping them `realise a dream` and to thank Richard for his patience and his excellent and comprehensive handover. They were also over the moon with their flowers too.
So what a pleasure for us that we can help to make people feel this way and we even sometimes get paid for doing it said Richard, with a wry smile ;-)

20th March 2012 : One show down, two more around the corner
Well the Autocruise weekend came and went rather quickly and despite a lower turn out than expected, those who made the effort were well rewarded and also quite rewarding.
The sales made were helped largely by manufacturers bonuses available for that weekend only and the general consensus was that the weekend was an overall success.
Following around the corner from this weekend are another two of note, these are :-
RBM Special Edition & Elddis Open Weekend ~ 13th to 15th April at the showroom
National Motorhome Show ~ 26th to 29th April at the Peterborough Showground

The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of February were as follows :-

Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early March for an announcement on next months winners.
26th February 2012 : We are never too old to learn !
Our customer facing sales and service team have just completed a fairly rigorous and in depth 3 day sales & customer care training programme, held in house at our showrooms in Copley.
Though already renowned for our commitment to customer care and despite our numerous awards to testify our success in this area, the team were still put through their paces on a quite comprehensive course that covered every aspect of the customers contact with us, from the incoming telephone call, right through to the sale, handover and after sales service.
Partner Gary Morgan, who created and delivered the course, praised the serious commitment and effort that the team had made to complete it. He stated that some had given up their days off, almost all had to start work a little bit earlier and finish a little bit later to try and catch up with calls and other tasks that still required sorting through the duration of the course and yet to a man, the whole team had believed it was a commitment worth making..jpg)
To ensure the business continued running as smoothly as possible, a reserve sales team was employed thus allowing the scholars an uninterrupted time during their training.
Sales Manager Paul Heeley, a veteran of sales and customer care training courses, paid the biggest compliment to the programme. `It is easy to be a little cynical regarding certain aspects of training when you have attended so many of them` said Paul, but this one was focused, delivered well and with a passion and it managed to teach me some new skills and reinvigorate some of my known but lapsed ones too.
Richard Baldwin, whom had never attended such an intense professional training course before was notably impressed also. He had always understood that we were already quite good at what we did, but now, he was looking forward to the team raising the bar even further in its efforts to attain unmatched levels of customer service.
Pictured right are the team at the end of the course, starting at the top left with Richard Ackroyd, Gary Morgan, Simon Scholfield, then bottom left, Paul Heeley, Richard Baldwin, & Mike Foster.
9th February 2012 : Impromptu SALE (10 days only)
Due to the quite incredible success of our new sales recently, especially at the last two major indoor shows, we have created ourselves a little problem with space at our showrooms here in Halifax. The problem is quite simple really, we have basically sold more new motorhomes than we expected and as such we have generated more part exchanges than we anticipated, many of which are due in soon when the new 12 registration comes out in March.
Though this is a nice problem to have, it is really still a problem and as such to help us deal with this issue, we have decided to throw an impromptu 10 day sale, where we are seriously looking to move on some new or used stock to help us with some space.
We'll be honest, as we always are and we'll tell you that we have targeted some of our longest in stock vehicles for the sale, but that doesn't mean to say that there is anything wrong with them, as you sometimes find with some sale vehicles elsewhere. It just means that they are genuine bargains having been reduced for genuine reasons. In fact to be straight, it goes a little against the grain to let some of them go as cheaply as we are doing.
But the alternative is off site storage, which is inconvenient, risky and expensive and so we would rather put the vehicles on Sale and let our customers get the benefit of some rare opportunity bargains.
So, if you are looking for a motorhome, new or used, now would be a really good time to call or visit, sale starts Friday 10th Feb and runs through to Sunday 19th
6th February 2012 : Roma Club Wordsearch Winner
To congratulate the Roma Club on celebrating their 100th edition of their club magazine, the Roma Club Review, RBM gave them a wordsearch competition for their readers to enter to have a chance to win £100.jpg)
The closing date was the end of January and we were inundated with responses, which Partner Gary Morgan was delighted with.
Sadly though there can only be one winner and to help us chose that winner, we enlisted the help of our youngest team member working that day and that was Richards Grandson, Boden.
.jpg)
As can be seen from the photos, the wee man ably assisted by his Granddad, took a good delve into a no expenses spared Richard Baldwin Motorhomes Limited Edition carrier bag and he plucked out with great aplomb one lucky winner. And wait for it, that lucky winner is a certain Mrs Jennie Hulme from Grange Over Sands in Cumbria.
We have sent Mrs Hulme her cheque whom we are sure will be delighted with it and we will perhaps run a similar competition again in the review sometime in the future, so watch this space !
Continuing the Romahome theme, don't forget to pencil a date in your diaries for when we have our annual Romahome Open Weekend & Rally, more details of which will follow soon.
The dates are Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May.
2nd February 2012 : Service Questionnaire Winners for January
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of January were as follows :-
Mr Adams from Bolton
Mr Morgan from Manchester
Mr Sandy from Leigh
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early March for an announcement on next months winners.
23rd January 2012 : Magnificent Manchester
Wow, what a show that was !
The best team in the business has just returned from working the
Caravan & Motorhome Show at Event City in Manchester, where they earned and enjoyed successes way beyond everybody's wildest expectations.
The venue, which is a new replacement for the former show held at GMEX, made for a greatly improved show for exhibitors and visitors alike and a significant increase in numbers of both was apparent.
Our stand, the biggest indoor stand we have ever taken with 9 vehicles on it, represented a significant investment for us and given it was the first time that the show had been held at Event City, it was a bit of a calculated risk as well. But that risk paid off and with a great deal of hard work from the team, some fantastic support from our partners Auto-Trail, Autocruise, Elddis & Romahome, we returned triumphant with orders secured at just short of £750,000.
Richard Baldwin, himself a star performer, particularly on Romahome (his specialist subject), commented that he was staggered by the levels of visitors to the show and that he was absolutely delighted with the results of the teams endeavours. And as a good head man should, he lead from the front and finished top man for the show a
nd received a bottle of the the fizzy stuff from Business Partner Gary Morgan for his efforts.
Gary noted that all the vehicles on show enjoyed some level of success, from the one berth £23K Romahome R10, through the Autocruise panel van range and up to and including the top of the range Auto-Trail's. He was further delighted at the success of the new RBM range exclusive special editions, that not only sold well, but also received very positive feedback from customers and visiting journalists.
Gary & Richard expressed their appreciation to the team for working so hard and so well together, including Marj, (top tea lady !) and to their suppliers for the assistance and support.
Look out next month for our `NOT AT THE SHOW` Excel Special Offers, where we hope to be giving customers some stunning deals via our savings made by not attending Excel way down near London.

22nd January 2012 : Our first Sold Da amico Special Edition
Pictured here with a pleased as punch Richard Baldwin, is an equally if not more pleased Mr & Mrs Murdoch from Castleford, who became the first couple ever to buy an RBM Range Da amico Special Edition Motorhome.
The Murdoch's made their significant purchase at the recent Caravan & Motorhome Show, at Event City in Manchester and are set to collect their new vehicle within the next few weeks.
Despite Richards undoubted sales prowess, the Murdoch's confessed to Gary Morgan, whose brainchild the Special Edition Range was, that they didn't really need to be sold too much on the vehicle, because it actually did a pretty good job of selling itself.
Mr Murdoch confessed that they had looked at a few similar vehicles at other dealers, but that the level of added specification on the RBM Range, in particular the safety features such as the unique and exclusive Electronic Stabilisation Program, had made their final decision a simple one. And to really cap it off, Mrs Murdoch had fallen very much in love with the motorhomes colour schemes and fabrics.
For more information on any of the RBM range, simply call the sales team whom will be delighted to help.
4th January 2012 : 20 Pairs of tickets to be won for the Manchester Motorhome & Caravan Show
We are delighted to announce that we have 20 pairs of free tickets to the Motorhome and Caravan Show, to give away to the first 20 correct entrants of the following simple competition.

Your favourite motorhome dealer will be there on stand number 30 in hall 3 and we will have on display a range of vehicles from Auto-Trail, Autocruise, Elddis, Romahome and Trigano. We will also be very proudly displaying for their first ever public showing, two of our three new Special Edition motorhomes we have from our exclusive RBM range.
As if that wasn't enough to tease you, then note that we will be having the exclusive launch of a completely new model from Trigano, the 615 built by Auto-Trail and we will also be showing for the first time outside of the NEC, the all new Romahome R20, so there is much to be excited about.

Well good luck to you all and hopefully we might see you at the show, or failing that, at our showroom sometime soon.
4th January 2012 : A rewarding goodbye and a welcome hello
Well the festive season has now been and gone and we start the New Year with high hopes and expectations and it is with some delight that we can report that whist some were folks were still finishing off their turkeys and chocolates, our boys in the sales team were still heads down and hard at it.
And their dedication has paid off too, as the chaps covering the base on the last day of opening in 2011 and the first day of opening in 2012, both managed to conclude a deal each selling a variety of new & used motorhomes.
So we can certainly say goodbye and thanks to 2011 for another good, albeit quite tough year and we can hopefully say a bright and chirpy hello to 2012 and hope that we can carry on as well as we have started.
Happy New Year everybody, we hope to see you in the showroom sometime soon.

On behalf of all the team here at RBM, may we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2012.
4th December 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for November
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of November were as follows :-
Mr Ryan from Manchester
Mr Mackley from Bingley
Mrs Martinez from Thornton
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early January for an announcement on next months winners.
9th November 2011 : Our Special Editions Take Off !!!
Well despite the fact that nobody has yet actually seen one in the flesh so to speak, including us, we are delighted and a little surprised to be fair, to announce that the first batch of our Special Edition `Fidato` models are now all `Sold out`
Richard Ackroyd, our resident Elddis specialist is a bit less surprised though, because he has studied all of the other dealer specials in detail, learning plenty whilst he was on the Elddis stand at the recent NEC show and in his considered view, our Special leaves the others standing.
Richard went on to say that it was difficult to see a massive difference from one dealers special to another as they were all very much the same give or take some minor details. With ours on the other hand, a customer can easily see at first glance just how many extras they are getting, but more importantly, they can also really grasp the value and significance of our extras, in particular the safety features that are unique to our models.
The specials were the brainchild of RBM Partner Gary Morgan, who has burnt many a midnight candle in his efforts to make this project a hit, and Gary is absolutely thrilled at the initial success. He said that if we could sell so many of these specials without them even being made yet, then he is very optimistic for the future of the new range when they are eventually unwrapped before the public.
Thankfully more orders have been placed already for the next batch of Fidato models and there are limited numbers of the Onesto and Da amico models left from the first batch of orders due off line in December. So if you have an interest in any of these RBM Range specials, please talk to us sooner rather than later to avoid delays or even disappointment.
For more details on the range, please contact the sales department at your earliest convenience, but for now, if you note the following, then it might be a helpful start for you :-
Onesto - Based on an Autoquest 130 layout with RBM Range additional spec. £36,995 OTR
Da amico - Based on an Autoquest 155 layout with RBM Range additional spec. £37,995 OTR
Fidato - Based on an Autoquest 180 layout with RBM Range additional spec. £39,795 OTR
The RBM Range spec is too detailed to go into here, but we will be delighted to assist any callers with more details when you call.
Oh and one final thing, the announcement of the winner of our competition open to customers to help us design our special is expected in the next few days, watch the web site for more details.
7th November 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for October
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of September were as follows :-
Miss Regnicolo from London
Mr Gittens from Leeds
Mr Pratt from Standish
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early November for an announcement on next months winners.
31st October 2011 : Top Team win Gold AGAIN !
We are delighted to announce that once again we have been awarded `Gold Status` for customer service from the most respected publication that is the Practical Motorhome Magazine.

Our customers again voted in their numbers and decided to grant us the distinction of being amongst the very best dealers in the UK for the second year running.
Paul Heeley (Sales Manager), pictured here with RBM Partner Gary Morgan showing off the awards, was particularly pleased to have received such high praise from our customers.
Paul said `it is great to know that despite the economy becoming a little tougher and margins being squeezed, we have still managed to attain such a high level of care for our customers, before, during and especially after the sale and it is a great feeling to note that our efforts are appreciated so much by our customers, that they have voted for us again as they have.
The survey carried out by the magazine throughout the year ask all sorts of questions about how customers were looked after and what their buying experience was like. And, as we have won this award before on a number of occasions over the years, for both new & used motorhomes, it looks like we must be doing something right.
So it's a big thank you from us to all those who have voted for us again and for those whom have not yet had the joy of the RBM Experience, you know where we are, so why not come and join us !
24th October 2011 : Some customers `Discover` the hard way !
Though on this occasion we hate to be proved right, it is nevertheless sad to say that we have been.
Last week, Discover Leisure unfortunately went into administration leaving many good members of staff and some old friends out of work and worse than that in some ways, they sadly left many customers substantially out of pocket.
Those who follow RBM via the web and via our adverts etc might remember that as far back as June this year we were sending out warnings to customers to take great care as to who to entrust their future motorhome business dealings to.
We urged caution of dealing with dealers who were quoting prices that appeared too good to be true, we urged customers to do a bit of checking on the dealers history, to see if there were any signs that the dealer had been in trouble before or had even been out of business in the past, there are a few out there still !
Well not everyone either saw the message or worse still, saw it but disregarded it and so regretfully some folks have had their fingers burnt. With this in mind and the fact that in our view this Discover issue is not likely to be an isolated case, we would like to once again reiterate our message to take care who you deal with.
Yes everybody wants a bargain we understand that, but the cheapest is seldom the best and if a deal at one place is miles better than a deal at another place and it sounds too good to be true, then heed the warnings signs, because it probably is too good to be true.
Know who you are dealing with, do your research, or save yourself a lot of trouble and heartache and come straight to a dealer like us, an award winning family dealership who work hard and do our best to always be honest, friendly & reliable !
Unlike many of the big groups, we don't have Venture Capitalists to repay massive loans to or greedy shareholders pillaging the coffers, so we can manage our business in a steady way, never exposing ourselves to crazy risks that could harm our business. So think on, when you buy your next motorhome, do you want to buy a little something for after the event, like service for instance or do you just want to risk dealing with the cheapest, who might be here today, but not tomorrow. As the saying goes, you pay your money, you make your choice !
20th October 2011 : Show Business is Go Business !
The team have just returned from another triumphant show down at the NEC Birmingham.
Despite so much attention given to the doom and gloom on the news and despite many other dealers in the industry feeling the pinch or more than that in some cases, we managed to return from the show with a very well deserved and very welcome 15% increase in sales against the same show last year.
Richard Baldwin, himself a star performer on the Romahome stand was really pleased with the performance of the whole team. He went on to say that he really didn't know what to expect from the show, but that he always felt that no matter how things went, he was sure that our boys would work harder than the rest and so would achieve a better result than the rest and seemingly he was proved right.
The home stand was kept busy and Gary who manned the stand with Tracy, his very professional Girl Friday, was equally as pleased as Richard with the end result. Gary said that all franchises had reported strong sales but that on this
occasion, Auto-Trail had performed particularly well. He further added that the all new `RBM` Range of Special Editions built by Elddis, which were not even released just yet, also recorded their first three sold units and he was particularly thrilled by this news.
This year the team were assisted by a `last minute substitution` in the form of Tony Maloney, former Manager at Marquis Motorhomes in Preston. Tony was dragged out of retirement, willingly it must be said and he was placed on the Autocruise stand where he did a Stirling job for an oldie ;-)
The boys wish to thank Tony for his efforts and also thank all the customers who gave us the opportunity to do business with them, especially those who bought !
The team are now in `show recuperation mode` for a short while until the next indoor event which will be the The Caravan & Motorhome Show Manchester at the all new venue Event City in January, we hope to see you all there !
18th October 2011 : Boden is RBM's latest recruit !
We start them young here at RBM that's for sure and when young Boden came along to the
showroom to see Granddad Baldwin, the big fella put him straight to work in the cleaning department.
As can be seen in the picture, the little `Ginger Cherub` is certainly not work shy and he has already learnt that you get `now't for now`t in these parts, so he simply took up thy vacuum and got on with it.
After cleaning the reception `of sorts` and grafting for a whole two minutes, the Baldwin's number 1 Grandson had had enough and he thought that he had done enough to earn a treat from his Granddad.
Being the great old softy that he is, Granddad just couldn't refuse, it was after all, as Richard went on to say, the little lad's second Birthday ;-)
Happy Birthday Ginge, from all at RBM !

Mike's experience has been wide ranged, but mainly it was in sales and finance. However that said, as a senior figure within his past roles, he gained valuable knowledge and know how in all dealings that were customer focussed or customer lead, so he should be absolutely ideal for the role.
Gary Morgan (RBM Partner), who has worked with Mike early on in his career, commented that he was absolutely thrilled to have secured the services of Mike and he was sure that his organisational skills and his ability to deal with people at all levels would stand him in good stead to regain control of our workshop and put it back to where it belongs.
Mike who has already proved his commitment to the cause by moving across the border from his native Lancashire to the much nearer leafy suburbs of Halifax, expressed his delight at joining the team here at RBM, stating that he was very much looking forward to mastering his new role.

19th July 2011 : Wet, wet, wet
The Northern Motorhome Show : Cheshire Showground
So we spend hours driving and transporting our vehicles miles from our beautiful showroom, more hours cleaning them again and lining them up for display once we arrive in the middle of what is essentially a farmers field and then even more hours making sure that they are all keenly priced and displayed immaculately and what does it do, rain !!! - And boy did it rain.
But thankfully, the rain didn't really hit too bad until the Sunday and by that time, fortunately our efforts to ensure that our customers who braved the elements had a great show and a great choice of vehicles, had really paid off.
The start of the weekend in fact was really actually quite pleasant, as can be seen from the pictures below and it was during these dry sunny spells that we had our albeit brief, but just the same, equally successful moments at the show. Customers old and new took advantage of some great show offers that we had and it was surprising but also really pleasing to note that our new customers came from as far and wide as Oxford down South, to Argyll way up in Scotland.

Gary Morgan commented that it was really a lot of hard work and money that goes into setting up these outdoor shows and when it rains like it did, you can sit and wonder why we bother going to such trouble.
But, he continued, on reflection if we didn't bother, then we would perhaps not have met the customers whom had travelled some distance to be there and who might not have come to Halifax to see us.
So it seems that the final consensus was that though it was tough, though it was costly and hard work and though it rained cats, dogs and seemingly donkeys at times, it was still worth the effort, but only just !!! ;-)
18th July 2011 : Service changes - Onwards & upwards
It is with a tinge of sadness that we have today said goodbye to Steve Simpson who has been our Service Manager for the last seven years. Steve, who has moved on to pastures new, won many accolades from customers and industry bodies alike and made many friends during his years of service with RBM, as a result, there is no doubt that his talents and personality will be missed by one and all.
But as is so often the case, from adversity comes opportunity and thankfully for us, the rest of the great team that we have already in place, will remain at the service centre and take up the task in hand
Fortunately, last year we took on a vital member of the service team that will help us to fill the void left by Steve's moving on. Sheila, our service receptionist has already proved a big hit with customers old and new and she will now have the opportunity to implement some major changes to our procedures.
As Steve would be the first to admit, procedures were not at the top of his talent list and an improvement in this area moving forward, should allow our service centre to become even more efficient and even more reliable than it ever was before.
Richard Baldwin commented, Steve has been a great man to work along side over the years and I have watched him grow along with the business. I'm sure that like me, the rest of Steve's colleagues will wish him well in the future. But, he went on, time waits for no man and things move on, so the challenge for us now, is to build on what we have and to help guide the remaining service team to go on to even greater achievements for many years to come.
4th July 2011 : Have your say !
Ever wanted to have your say on the design / specification of a new motorhome ? - Well now here's your chance !
Later this year, we will be launching our own `special edition` motorhome, our first ever venture into such a project and we are inviting you to help us to make sure we do it right.
This very exciting scheme is the brain child of Partner Gary Morgan and as Gary stated, we don't want to do what all the other dealers seem to do by simply taking a standard vehicle, changing the fabric, bolting an awning and a couple of other bits on to it and then calling it a special edition.
No that's not for us, as Gary says, what we want to do is create a genuine and unique special edition with extra's that customers really want, need and value.
With this in mind, we have created a form that will allow our customers to tell us what they think and even better, to make it more interesting, we have made it into a competition where the best response could win an Avtex 7 in 1 TV/DVD
So why not go to the form by clicking the button at the top of the page and complete your details to see if you can come up with the best ideas and have your say.
Good luck
1st July 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for June
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of June were as follows :-
Mr Derbyshire from Accrington
Mr Callow from Harrow
Mr Lincoln from Handforth
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early August for an announcement on next months winners.
8th June 2011 : Our best ever display of used Romahomes
Due to a combination of a great Romahome show weekend at our showroom recently, successful trading on the Romahome stand at the NEC show and a general continued growth in new Romahome sales, we are pleased to announce that we now have the best array of used Romahome's that we have ever had.

With vehicles starting from as little as £6,995 right up to £36,995 this is probably the best array of used Romahome's anywhere in the North of England and we should hopefully have something for everybody.

All vehicles retail sold come with and engine service, habitation service, an internal and external valet, warranties from 3 to 24 months (cost dependent) and a comprehensive handover where you will get to see everything fully operational before you leave.
So if you would like an economical micro motorhome that doubles perfectly well as a first or second car, then the place to visit is RBM, but don't delay, these vehicles do tend to sell very quickly.
3rd June 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for May
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of May were as follows :-
Mr Taylor from Newark
Mr Johnson from Oldham
Mr Knowles from Todmorden
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early July for an announcement on next months winners.
31st May 2011 : Romahome weekend, a great success
We have just completed our annual Romahome show, the only one in the North of England and we are delighted to say that the show was heralded as a complete success.
The show which has grown in stature year on year saw visitors to the branch from far and wide with customers turning up from as far south as the Midlands, to as far north as Scotland.
A super display of new and used Romahome's was available for viewing and to test drive and a number of sales were concluded as a result of the weekend show.
Romahome MD Brian Bailey, who was on hand all weekend to help promote the show, expressed his delight at how the synergy between the two companies continues to develop. He said "Romahome's are a fairly unique product with a considerable, long standing and devoted customer base, as a manufacturer we need dealers whom are prepared to stock the products, be loyal and enthusiastic to the brand and who have excellent facilities to be able to look after our customers professionally before, during and after the sale. Richard Baldwin Motorhomes has all that and more.
Richard Baldwin, himself a great fan and advocate of the Romahome product, whom has worked on the Romahome's stand at the NEC for the last few years, was also on hand all weekend doing his bit and leading from the front. Richard commented that he really enjoyed selling Romahome's as the people who usually buy this sort of vehicle were very friendly, always interesting and the product really sells itself, so it is in fact quite a relaxed and effortless process.
Anybody who might need any further information on Romahome products should call the sales hotline on 01422 - 364 222, where the team would be delighted to further your enquiry.
12th May 2011 : We like to party ....
Wow, another year has passed so quick and we knew that because we have just hosted our latest annual `Big Thank You Weekend`
The idea around the weekend is simply just us putting something back into our customers and the lifestyle etc and for us to say `hey do you know what, we really appreciate your business and thank you`
It started on the Friday night with the early campers arriving promptly to get the best places. Saturday
morning saw our coffee shop area being utilised to the full with bacon butties, teas coffees and so on all being served and then throughout the day further refreshments cakes and biscuits were available whilst our customers just milled around, caught up with the gossip and checked out what's new in the world of motorhomes.
Saturday night then saw the coach arrive to collect all the campers and take them to the local club where they were kept amused with some cash & prize draw Bingo and a free raffle where over £1,000's worth of prizes were given away. They were then entertained by
a local duo Richard Anderson & Co and finally fed with our now infamous Pie n Peas supper.
A subsidised bar (and what a bill that ended up being !!!) helped loosen the limbs of those who were left to dance the night away, boy can our campers drink ;-))

Well the next morning saw our happy customers, a few with weary legs and headaches, eventually meander across to the showroom again for more bacon butties and tea before saying their thank you's and goodbyes and another successful weekend was over till next year.
If you missed out this time, then please feel free to call us today and book your space for next year.

Happy camping !
2nd May 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for April
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of April were as follows :-
Mr Parker from Shipley
Mr Riley from Blackburn
Mr Hayhurst from Todmorden
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early May for an announcement on next months winners.
19th April 2011 : The `Shirley` Show @ Peterborough
In what was one of our most difficult shows to date at the recent National Motorhome Show at the Peterborough Showground, there was at least one strange but positive tale to come out of it. This was a tale of three Shirley's, yes strangely but true, we managed to sell three vehicles in the same day, all to ladies with the same forename, Shirley !
Sales Manager Paul Heeley who helped structure each of the three deals involved thought he was going mad when each time he was introduced to the customers he was greeted with `and this is Shirley.....`
Paul went on to say "I was beginning to think that I was losing the plot in the Peterborough sunshine and was starting to believe that everybody was called Shirley all of a sudden`, but on the plus side he said, at least I won't forget their names ;-)
Richard Baldwin made a rare but welcome appearance as show leader due to Gary being called away on official `City` business, (this was watching Manchester `City` beat their neighbours convincingly in a small matter of an FA Cup semi final at Wembley).
When asked about the show, Richard said that he believed that the business had bizarrely suffered at the show because of being guilty of a little bit too much success with previous sales. He went on to clarify this by saying that basically, most of the dealers at the show were still very stuffed up with 2010 models that they were selling very cheap and some seemingly in desperate measures. As we had sold out of all our 2010 stock, we did struggle at times to match the deals that were often banded around the show.
But regardless of missing out on a few deals this show, the business will continue with it's policy of making sure that they don't end up like many of the other dealers, over stocked and desperate and unlike a few we could mention, we also intend to stay in business, not close down one minute and open up the next as something new. Hey they don't call us `Honest, Friendly & Reliable for nothing you know` !
8th April 2011 : The North's only Romahome Show
Hey all you Romahome fans out there, don't forget we have our annual Romahome show coming up soon, in fact it's the 27th - 29th May to be precise.
Further details on the show can be found on our `Offers and Events` page, so click away to your right, but remember to scroll to the bottom of the page, it only takes two ticks and there's other interesting stuff to read on there too.
Further details on Romahomes can be found at romahome.com or further details on Romahome's official club can be found on romaclub.org.uk
5th April 2011 : Calling all existing RBM customers (FREE WEEKEND)
Circumstances have brought about a couple of spare places for our `Big Thank You Weekend`, to be held from the 6th to the 8th May.
The weekend involves overnight camping for Friday and Saturday night, or just Saturday if you prefer, tea's, coffee's, cake & biscuits during the day at the showroom, all over the weekend, live entertainment, bingo, raffle and dancing etc on Saturday evening, along with a subsidised bar at Copley Rugby Club ;-) and our famous bacon butty hangover cures on Sunday morning at the showroom.
Of course the best bit about all of this is that it is FREE, it's just our way of saying thanks to our customers for their support over the years.
Obviously places are very limited as the allocation is nearly full already, but try your luck. If you have purchased a vehicle from us at any time, then basically that's the only qualification you need, so why not chance your arm and call Richard, Paul or Rachel and see if we can squeeze you in, it would be great to see you again !
2nd April 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for March
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of March were as follows :-
Mrs Burley from Huddersfield
Ann Gibson from Essex
Mr McGowan from Manchester
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early May for an announcement on next months winners.
1st April 2011 : Shop goes to 6 days a week
Would all customers please note that as of 1st April 2011, our shop will no longer open on Tuesdays. The other 6 days of opening remain as they were. Thank you.
29th March 2011 - Web maintenance
Would all customers / viewers of our web pages please note that our web site will be temporarily inaccessible for most of Saturday 2nd April.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but the website requires some upgrading to its hosting infrastructure and so this cannot be helped. The web should be back on track as normal around 6.00 pm on the same day.
Thank you
23rd March 2011 : A quick heads up about our Autocruise Open Weekend
Hey we know it's been in all the magazines and on our website events page for ages too and we also know that we may well have sent you a personal invite as well, but hey, you can never be told of a good thing too many times.
So this is just a quick reminder that from the 8th to the 10th April, it's our Autocruise Open Weekend. For further information see our Offers & Events page.
22nd March : Our Rachel's Great Ormond Street fun run
No
body could ever say we weren't a charitable lot here at your favourite motorhome dealership, why just in the last few days alone we have promoted or assisted a number of great causes and great people doing things for these causes and here's another one that you might want to read about / support.
Our very own Rachel (sales administrator) is also in on this crazy running about malarkey and on the 30th May, she is going to put herself through a gruelling 10K run by completing (hopefully !) the BUPA London 10,000 2011.
Along with her sponsorship on paper which is going quite well so far, Rachel has a link that you can go to which is http://www.justgiving.com/
Good luck Rachel, rather you than me though ;-)
22nd March 2011 : We'll talk the talk, whereas Sue will walk the walk !
Sue Riach, the younger and more attractive better half of our very own Sales Manager Paul Heeley, has joined the ever growing crazy ranks of people who seem intent on putting themselves through all kinds of torture, all of course for a very good and worthy cause.
Sue has set herself the task of completing the London Moonwalk 2011, all 26.2 miles of it !!!
The date of Sue's walk is May14th and she hopes to complete it along with one of her colleagues from work. And this is not the first time Sue has taken on a charitable cause either, as she completed another Moonlight walk last year when she walked around Harewood House near Leeds, but this time, the distance is about 8 times longer and for a woman of her age ...... ;-)
Anyway, we are sure that like us you will all wish her well and should anybody like to
donate to her cause, which is for Breast Cancer Research, then you can log on to her donation page which can be found at www.walkthewalkfundraising.
21st March 2011 : On yer bike Bill ;-)
He probably won't thank us for saying this, but in our view `a true hero` Bill Honeywell today collected his new motorhome from us, that he intends to use as a support vehicle for his 4,300 mile around the coast of Great Britain charity cycling trip.
The trip, in aid of Cancer Research UK, is the latest in a line of what strikes us as brave but borderline crazy things that Bill has pushed himself to complete over the last few years and he hopes to raise even more money this time as he cycles his way around the coast.
Starting in Clitheroe on May 10th, this remarkable feat will take him clockwise around this big old island of ours and he hopes to be back some 70 days or so later and more importantly, several £'ss better off for this worthy cause.
Gary Morgan commented that the business was only too happy to help Bill with his motorhome requirements after Bill had seemingly failed to generate much favour or support from other dealers that he had approached and we can only wish him and his support team all the very best for their journey.
To read more about Bills challenge and to show your support for Cancer Research UK, please click on either of the links below.

11th March 2011 : Auto-Trail Open Weekend reminder
Hey all you Auto-Trailers out there, don't forget that our annual Auto-Trail Open Weekend is coming up next week, see our `Offers & Events` page for further details.
1st March 2011 : RBM buck the trend at the NEC
Gary Morgan was delighted to announce that the Sales team at the NEC had managed to secure a significant increase in both unit sales, profits and of course in turnover.
These tremendous results come on the back of what was without doubt a very difficult show environment, in which many of our competitors complained of poor sales figures and difficult trading conditions. Gary went on to say that at one point in the show, we ourselves thought that we would be faced with a downturn in numbers and without letting the team know, he was quite concerned for the end results. But as is always our way, the team to their eternal credit kept about their task to the end of each day, every day and when the other dealers had left early, gone to the bar or had given up on all hope and abandoned their stands completely, our boys were still there, still working the stands and looking out for business. Their efforts had eventually paid off handsomely by the close of the show.
Sales Manager Paul Heeley commented that when the going gets tough, the team ethic that we have and our will to succeed, can really make the difference between failure and success, we work hard, we play hard, but most importantly we do it as a small and close knit team. Our strategy of having one man on every manufacturers stand that we represent and having our now famous, smart little courtesy stand, means that we retain the best chance of capturing our biggest customer base and of showing them just what a professional dealership we are for them to do business with.
The team would like to thank all those customers who spoke with us and gave us the opportunity to do business and in particularly the ones that entrusted their business to us.
As an aside to the great results, the team and in particular our own Richard Baldwin, enjoyed a rather famous visitor to our stand, a certain James Martin no less !
Richard rather cannily describe the meeting as Yorkshire's finest Motorhome dealer meets Yorkshire's finest chef and then warned him off pinching his sausages ;-)
Here the two men can be seen posing for the camera on our stand, James is the tall one by the way !!! ;-)
1st March 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for February
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of February were as follows :-
Mr Kightly from Halifax
Mr Dinsmore from Halifax
Miss Davies from Chorley
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early April for an announcement on next months winners.
16th February 2011 : On the spot SALE
One of the best things about our web site is that it is instant, if we have some news, we can get it out there to our friends & customers alike, at a moments notice.
Well the news of the moment is, that we are currently fast running out of space to display our stock and to store the number of sold vehicles we currently have on hold at our depot.
The main reason for this is that we are just about to kick off the main selling season and obviously there is the new `11` plate registrations that are due out March 1st as well.
To be fair, we are a little bit guilty of our own success really, with sales of new vehicles going better than expected and in a way it is a nice problem to have because we can honestly say, that we have never had a greater choice of vehicles than we do right now. But with that said, as nice a problem as it is, it is still a problem because we are fast running out of room to display them.
So with this in mind, quite unplanned and not advertised anywhere else other than on our own website, we are going to host an `On the spot` Sale. There are no rules, no specific offers and all vehicles will be up for a deal ! But please note that this sale can and will stop at a moments notice, just as soon as we have moved enough motorhomes to allow us to get our lovely display back, just as we like it to be.
This is a really unusual situation for us, we honestly don't have too much stock from a financial point of view and we don't have any old stock that we are trying to clear out, this simply is a genuine and great opportunity for a few people to take advantage of our space restrictions and potentially save themselves much more money than they would normally do at this time of year.
For further details on our `On the spot` sale, feel free to call the sales team now, the number is just on your right >>>
9th February 2011 : Our Lynda's a Star, oh no she isn't !
Oh yes she is !
Lynda Jowett a member of our accounts team has recently finished a gruelling week long stint at the Halifax YMCA where she was performing as a dancer in the Pantomime `Little Jack Horner`
Seen here pictured with two of her dance troupe friends, Ashleigh & Melissa, our Lynda graced the stage for 9 separate performances in front of well attended and enthusiastic audiences.
She belied her real age by putting in a full bloodied effort and keeping up with the young ones, getting her legs into places that we hear they have not been for sometime ;-)
Lynda who has been a part of the Halifax YMCA Pantomime Society for nearly 32 years, 10 of which she was a Choreographer for, commented that she really enjoyed the show and that she would rather be counting her dance steps than counting the beans on her abacus in the accounts department !
Better not let Mr Morgan hear you say that though, oh no he's behind you .............
4th February 2011 : Warranty change, great news for our customers
We are delighted to announce that as of the 1st February, we will no longer be using the services of Motorway Direct, the people who provided AA badged warranties for us over the last few years. Th
e reason we are delighted, is that we have secured the services of Gateway Leisure whom have provided us with an infinitely superior product and a far better training and ongoing service facility.
Our new warranties will still be available at the same price as the old ones, though they do cost us a little more to buy in, but with the extra benefits that they provide, we believe that we have done the right thing by our customers in making the switch and offering a better value product.
Warranties can now be purchased via either our sales or our service departments and they start from as little as just £295 for 12 months and £395 for 24 months.
For more information on terms and conditions or any other details, please feel free to call either team on the numbers on the right of your screen.
2nd February 2011 : Service Questionnaire Winners for January
The winners of the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of January were as follows :-
Mrs Bell from Halifax
Mr Butlin from Stonnall, West Midlands
Mr Sykes from Blackburn
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early March for an announcement on next months winners.
28th January 2011 : All passed with flying colours
We are delighted to announce that our service team, who recently all spent a week on a Gas Training Course, have all managed to pass the course with flying colours.
.jpg)
The course was run in conjunction with the Caravan Industry Training Organisation (CITO), who are part of the Skills Active Group and it took place in our own well equipped workshops at Copley. A number of written and practical exercises were studied and performed in what was a detailed and quite demanding week, but the team got about the task together and as individuals in a diligent and good spirited way.
Steve Simpson (Service Manager) reported that he was proud of the efforts of all concerned and he felt even more confident than normal, that he and the rest of the team would be able to continue to look after our customers even better, giving even greater peace of mind.
According to Richard Baldwin, this is just the start of a small part of the training that will be provided for staff in each and every department as time goes by.
24th January 2011 : Success at Manchester Central
The team returned from the recent Manchester Central (formerly GMex) Show with a well deserved, but hard fought victory.
Having waded through countless prospective Tug-A-Long owners and many more various Holiday Home aspirants, the boys eventually found sufficient Motorhome customers that were smart enough to recognise a bargain when they saw one and the result was joy all round.
Lee Roberts, National Sales Manager for the Swift Group whom very kindly supported our efforts was said to be delighted with the results and he hoped for a similar performance from us when we attend the next major show at the NEC Birmingham in February.

The stand looked super as always, as did the team and overall the decision to attend the show, which we haven't done before, was deemed to be a very smart decision.
So, sorry to those who missed out at this show but be sure to check out our other upcoming show dates on our `Offers & Events` page to make sure you don't miss out next time.
12th January 2011 : It's only Rock n Roll, but we like it !
It’s not every day that you land the lead role as Buddy in the smash hit musical `The Buddy Holly Story` so when Roger Rowley heard that he had done exactly that, he was absolutely over the moon. The brown eyed handsome man soon realised though, that as this was going to be a touring musical, he could perhaps do with having a nice `portable` place to lay his head between shows. That’s when his Dad stepped in and said "listen to me, why don’t we pop down to RBM’s and see if a motorhome would do the trick".
So early in the morning they set off to our showrooms to have a look around. They met our Richard who greeted them with some words of love before showing them a selection of motorhomes that might suit. When they came across our Compass Avantgarde 200, Roger nearly skipped a heartbeat; it was just what he wanted. "Oh boy" he said, "this is the one, tell me how can we go about buying it" ? "It’s so easy" said Richard, "but don’t you want to think it over first" ?
.jpg)
No need was Roger’s response, the price is right, the motorhome is super, so let’s just rave on. Dad, a little more cautious asked Richard, do you think that we could get a better deal elsewhere, "that’ll be the day" said Richard and that was good enough for all concerned so the deal was done.
24 year old Roger from Leeds, who studied and qualified from the Guilford School of acting (GSA), landed the lead character as his first professional role. He will now be touring the UK from February, right through to the latter end of the year.
The musical has now been going for over 22 years and that coincidently is just how old Buddy Holly was himself, when he was so tragically taken from us. It is without doubt the most successful Rock n Roll musical of all times and we are delighted to be helping Roger to play his part in continuing its success.
For more information on dates, venues and tickets etc re The Buddy Holly Story, go to http://www.buddythemusical.com/tickets.php?menu=5
10th January 2011 : This Granddad thing, it's catching !
Friends and regulars of RBM will remember that just 15 months ago Richard's lovely daughter Sarah & son in law Jonna, made him the very proud Granddad to baby Boden. Well not wishing to be left behind, Richard's partner Gary has now joined the Granddad set and we are delighted to announce that today, at 11.45 am, he too became a Granddad to baby Emily (pictured below).
.jpg)
Gary's son & lovely daughter in law Natalie presented little Emily nearly a month earlier than she was expected, but the little mite still weighed in at a healthy 5.9 lbs.
We hear that Gary thinks he's too young and wait for it, `too cool` to be a Granddad (who's he kidding ?), so rumour has it that he is to be called Poppi G as opposed to Granddad. Well we'll let you decide what to call him when you see see him next, but remember to tease him now won't you ;-)
6th January 2011 : Dates for your diaries
A list of dates for your diaries is now available on our Offers & Events page (down towards the bottom of the page). It includes dates of indoor and outdoor shows, open weekends, sales and of course our legendary `Big Thank You Weekend`
Check it out now and make the space in your diaries accordingly so that you don't miss a thing. For more information, please feel free to call.

Happy New Year to all our customers old and new, we hope that 2011 brings us all health and happiness and lots of happy motorhoming. Hope to see you all soon.
23rd December : Fun for all
After a long hard year providing great service to all our customers, the time came for the team to all let their hair down, well those who had hair that is ;-) and below you can see the staff enjoying themselves on a posh Christmas night out at the exclusive Harewood House near Leeds.

A well deserved great night was had by all and we are now all looking forward to earning a similar night out next year.
21st December : Merry Christmas to one and all
On behalf of all the staff at RBM, may we wish all our customers a very merry
Christmas, see you in 2011.
Our opening hours across the festive season are detailed below. All the best !
14th December : RBM exhibits at Manchester
We are delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting for the first time ever at the forthcoming Manchester Central Caravan & Motorhome Show (formerly GMex). The four day event starts Thursday January 20th and runs through to Sunday 23rd.

The show, which to be fair hasn't always lived up to its billing as far as motorhomes are concerned, this year promises to be the best to date, especially from a perspective of motorhomes and motorhome dealers exhibiting. Alongside our own modest display of Autocruise models, heavily governed by a lack of available space, we are told by the organisers that there should be models on show from Auto-Sleepers, Bessacarr, Burstner, Elddis, Hobby, Swift and maybe more.

As well as these models, there will of course be other motorhome dealers there too, not that you will need to be speaking to any of these lot obviously :-) so the whole event promises to be a great day out and the best show yet.
It won't all be about motorhomes though, there will be of course a selection of `Tug-a-longs`, holiday homes, accessories, camping gear, entertainment and much more. So we look forward to seeing you on our stand, which is stand number 137 and to helping you with any of your motorhome related requirements or enquiries.
Though the show should be great and we expect it will really whet your appetite for all things motorhomes, there is a chance that you could be left still wanting more. Well being the best and most forward thinking motorhome dealer around, we have put together a nice little bonus for all those such show goers, that consist of a `free` trip from Manchester to our showrooms in Halifax.
Yep it's true, we will pay your train fare, collect you from and deliver you back to the station at our end and all just so that you can view even more motorhomes. Depending on which train you catch, it takes just over 45 minutes by train and once at our showrooms, you can browse a great selection of new vehicles from Auto-Trail, Autocruise, Elddis & Romahome and you can also view a superb collection of quality used motorhomes.
And as if that wasn't enough, your favourite dealer has also negotiated a deal with the organisers to secure a limited number of reduced priced tickets for the show which we can provide exclusively to our customers. So for further details on the show, terms of the train transfers or info on the discounted tickets, call our Sales Manager Paul Heeley on 01422 - 364 222 or email him on ph1@rbm.co.uk
We look forward to seeing you soon.

3rd November : Get well soon
RBM would like to thank all those who have called in / e mailed to ask how our MD Gary is doing after his hernia operation yesterday.
Well we are pleased to announce that all went well with the op and that Gary is now recovering at home. He hopes to be back in work for odd days from next week onwards on light duties, but he continues to keep up to speed with things via his home connection whilst he rests.
Gary would like to take this opportunity to quash rumours that the hernia was caused by him lifting his pay
packet too quickly ;-) and he would also like to express his appreciation for all the good wishes received from staff, industry colleagues and customers alike.
In his absence, the team continue to run the ship in a professional way over seeing the `Mega Sale` amongst other things until his return.
25th October : Don't forget, the 10 Day MEGA Sale starts this Friday (29th)
The message is simple :-
60 % of our New vehicles have been reduced in price and 45% of our Used vehicles have been reduced also.
This is a genuine SALE where you can truly save up to £6,000. Manufacturers prices have been slashed, as have the previous asking prices on selected used models.
We will also be looking to offer tailored made packages on either accessories, finance, servicing or a combination of all three on certain models. And as an extra treat, if your luck is such that the model you want to buy isn't in the sale, just have a polite word with the Salesman to see what he can do to persuade the big boss to sort a deal out for you anyway.
Hey what do you have to lose, it cost nothing to ask does it !?!?!?! The sale starts this Friday and has to end by Sunday the 7th November, so hurry, remember first up, best dressed ;-)
19th October : A shallow victory from the NEC
Well we won, but only just !
Our boys have just returned from the recent Motorhome & Caravan show at the NEC in Birmingham and we are relieved and pleased to record that we have done what we could only honestly describe as `quite well` !
We can't really shout from the rooftops that we broke all previous records because we didn't and unlike some other dealers, we like to remain true to our principles of being HONEST as well as friendly & reliable, so we won't be making things up here.
The show was a very hard one for us and we succeeded thanks in large to what was an exceptional day on the Friday, most of the other days were either tough or tougher. That said though, we still kept our shape and we transacted only sensible business and we were brave enough and smart enough to walk away from some quite crazy deals that were being floated around by many dealers, some of whom seemed just desperate to secure some deposits, perhaps just to help them through the winter, who knows ?
Anyway, we are pleased with our results and in particular we are pleased with the performance of our Romahome franchise, of whom it should be noted, did buck the trend and performed exceptionally well.
Many customers were wise enough to secure orders for their new vehicles in time to beat the VAT increase due January 4th. For those who fear that they may have missed out, don't worry just yet as we still have a limited supply of forward orders that can still beat the deadline. If you want to know more about this, call Paul or Richard now for further details.
On behalf of all the team, we wish to thank all those whom placed their orders with us at the show and we look forward to meeting you all again at our showrooms real soon.
3rd October : Service Questionnaire Winners for September
The winners for the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of September were as follows :-
Mr Mitchell from Easingwood
Mr Moore from Pickering
Mr Franklin from Blackpool
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early November for an announcement on next months winners.
13th September : 100 `FREE` Tickets for the Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC
In our constant efforts to remain ahead of all the other dealers, we have managed to secure 100 Free tickets* to attend the forthcoming National Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC, which takes place between the 12th & the 17th of October.
The tickets will be given out on a first come first served basis and all you have to do to qualify for them is to turn up to the branch, ask for Paul Heeley or Richard Ackroyd and say, `Please can I claim my free NEC tickets from my favourite motorhome dealer`. In turn the boys will give you the tickets and wish you good luck.
Our team will be at the NEC, on our own stand in hall 8, stand number 868 and also on all of our individual manufactures stands. We look froward to seeing you there.
*To claim your free ticket, you will need to register on line with the ticket reference number that we provide you with, maximum two tickets per person.
10th September : Hurry seriously, stock available for pre VAT increase prices is running out !!!
The cynics amongst us will always think `ah well, they'll be another one if that one goes`, and sometimes this is true, but we have to tell you this just might not be the case with Pre vat increase new models.
Here at your favourite motorhome dealer we thought that we had done really well by ordering quite a few extra new vehicles than we would normally have done at this time of the year. We did this firstly because we had done very well with our 2010 models and we sold most of them earlier than normal and secondly, because we anticipated some extra demand for new vehicles to beat the 20% VAT rate that comes into force on January 4th.
That said and self congratulations done, it turns out that we may not have ordered enough, if sales of new vehicles continue as they recently have been and as such, we think it is only fair and right to let our potential customers know that you really ought to be thinking about placing your orders NOW, (even pre NEC) in order to be sure that you secure your motorhome at the current VAT rate of 17.5%.
It is possible that other dealers are recording high levels of new sales just like us, in fact the manufacturers are actually telling us that this is the case. So with this in mind, you should note that as they can only procure and produce so many units before the end of the year deadline, it is likely that there is going to be some, at worst disappointed, or at best financially worse off customers, than there really ought to be, and we don't want our customers to be amongst them.
So please take note, there are going to be those who want a pre vat increase motorhome that we nor anybody else for that matter is going to be able to supply. Heed this advice and call us now, we will do everything we can to secure your order for you and in turn save your extra hard earned cash going straight into the fat pockets of the tax man. It's your choice, you now know the score !!!!
And to help even further, we are even doing a limited number of deals where you can buy now and we will store your vehicle free of charge till early next year. Call the hotline now for further details.
6th September : We've all gone LLP !
As of September 1st, we are delighted to announce that our business has now gone from being Richard Baldwin Motorhomes Sole Trader to Richard Baldwin Motorhomes LLP. This is a subtle change as far as our customers are concerned and the move was made purely to allow our former MD Gary Morgan to officially become a Partner in the business.
Former CEO Richard Baldwin, now Partner stated his absolute delight that Gary had finally become his business partner `officially` though of course the two have worked together now for about two and half years already and Richard went on to say that he shared Gary's vision and optimism for the future of the business.
Gary commented further that the business will retain its family feel and that Richard had indeed treated him like family from the very beginning anyway, so it's onwards and upwards from here on ....
2nd September : Service Questionnaire Winners for August
The winners for the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of August were as follows :-
Mr Kiddier from Leeds
Mrs Ogan from Wilsden
Mr Chapman from Preston
Each lucky winner will recieve a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early October for an announcement on next months winners.
24th August : Thank you for the music
We were proud once again to have sponsored the Overgate Hospice `Sounds of Summer` concert that took place in the grounds of the hospice in Elland on Sunday the 22nd August 2010.
The concert, which this year managed to avoid the rain thankfully, has become an annual event for the hospice and was organised by the very lovely, and with child, Mrs Faye Henderson and her team.
It was attended by quite a large enthusiastic and appreciative crowd, who all enjoyed a variety of music ranging from a solo artiste by the name of Kerrie Leonard, who had the voice of an Angel, through to the Elland Male Voice Choir who also sang beautifully and the concert was finished off by a band called The Friendly Band, who performed a number of audience favourites to rapturous applause.
Faye commented that although organising the event could at times be a little stressful, she fully enjoyed doing it and the help from others and in particular the financial support that she had received from Richard Baldwin Motorhomes, all went to make her job that bit easier and more rewarding.
Our CEO Richard was delighted to be able to assist, as the hospice has always been very close to the hearts and minds of all the staff at the branch. He was even heard to have offered his services for next years singing, as apparently he does a mean rendition of Glen Campbell's `Rhinestone Cowboy` or was it `Nine stone Cowboy` ;-)
Anyway, the bottom line is that the concert was great, we were delighted to have helped and Faye and the team were very glad of our support, though she did just add that they never seem to quite have just enough financial support. So if you want to throw a few £'ss their way, Faye would be delighted to accept and you can do this by visiting their web site at www.overgatehospice.org.uk/fundraising
Below is a picture of the Elland Male Voice Choir strutting their funky stuff.
24th August : RBM at the BBC
Your favourite motorhome dealer, never one to miss a photo opportunity, has just featured albeit quite briefly on the recent TV series called `Gears n Tears` which has been showing on the BBC for the last four weeks.
The show, which is all about the rivalry that exists between two dedicated stock car racing families, one from Yorkshire and one from Lancashire, has been running as a six part documentary on BBC1 and our very own Gary Morgan (MD) & Richard Baldwin (CEO) have been featured (along with the famous RBM logo) on episodes 1 & 4 so far.
The final two episodes can be seen on Monday 30th August & Monday the 6th September at 10.00 pm on BBC1 and for those of you who missed the last episode and whom would like to see what all the fuss is about, then you can visit the BBC website and view them again via the BBC iplayer facility.
We are featured on the programme because we are the principle sponsor of the World Stock Car Finals that were held last year at Kings Lynn and Richard himself was as many people know a former Stock car Racer of some note in his younger years. Richard aka `The Halifax Hitman` can be seen alongside Gary and current World Champion Andy Smith below
23rd August : All in a good cause
When we recently heard the plight of a
Northern based charity who had become the victim of a burglary that left them
completely bereft of tools needed to carry out their work, we felt compelled to
step in and help save the day.
Piccadilly Garden is a charity
organisation that offers training, work experience and day care, based around
horticultural and recycling, for adults with varying degrees of learning
difficulties such as Downs Syndrome. They work from their base in Lancaster and
offer gardening services to people in the surrounding villages to help fund
their existence, as well as by selling plants and flowers from their own little
garden centre.
And it was at this garden centre that
heartless thieves broke into and stole all of their gardening tools and
machinery, leaving the charity unable to continue with their sterling work.
We heard about the charities plight via Ben Morgan, who is a senior support
worker for Piccadilly and by chance, also the son of our MD Gary. Ben told Gary
about the situation in passing just because he was a bit gutted about it, he
was neither looking for, nor anticipating a donation because they are a local
charity based in Lancaster, quite some way from Halifax.
But after Gary had mentioned the
situation to our CEO, Richard Baldwin, Richard immediately ordered a donation
be sent to the charity to help them to start their rebuilding programme.
Finance & Project Officer Stephen Neaves from Piccadilly
Garden was extremely grateful for the donation from RBM and from others who had
rallied round to help and he was hopeful of further donations coming in the
near future to help secure the short term future of the charity.
Pictured below is Ben Morgan with some of the students from the centre proudly showing
off their two new mowers.
For further information about Piccadilly Garden or to make a donation yourself, visit www.piccadillygarden.org
10th August : G for Gary, G for Grumpy, G for Grandad
Yes the news is out and he can hide it no longer, our MD, who in his mind is still only twenty one has finally revealed that he is to become a `GRANDAD`. Gary found out the news some weeks ago but has tried to keep it under wraps because he claims that the news will destroy his image as one of the last bastions of the motorhome playboy, who's he kidding ;-)
Anyway he and his long suffering wife Oona, who is absolutely over the moon by the way, are to become Grandparents right in the middle of the NEC show, in February next year and it's all thanks to their son Ben and his beautiful young wife Natalie.
Gary was quick to quash rumours that his convertible sports car was to be replaced by a people carrier and has vowed to answer only to Papa as opposed to Grandad, or Grumpy Grandad as his wife has already christened him.
He has also been heard to mention that the business will now need to sell lots more motorhomes just to keep on top of Grandma Morgan's credit card bills as she starts to buy up the whole of the Mama's & Papa's superstore :-)
Pictured below is an artist impression of what we think Gary might look like this time next year and remember when you see him, be sure to pull his leg and call him `Grumpy Grandad`
5th August : Service Questionnaire Winners for July
The winners for the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of June were as follows :-
Mr Brady from Manchester
Mr Davies from Northampton
Mr Dickinson from Leeds
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early September for an announcement on next months winners.
1st August : We win (Gold) again !!!
Your favourite motorhome dealer has won yet another set of industry recognised awards. Yes we have scooped the top honours again by collecting two Gold awards at the recent Practical Motorhome Magazine awards ceremony.
The first award was in recognition for our overall service in relation to Used motorhomes. The awards which are collated by Practical Motorhome, but voted for by readers and motorhomes users / customers alike, take into consideration many factors from the whole transaction, from before, during and after the sale.
In the Used motorhome category, we scored a very pleasing 96% which is a resounding testament to the care and attention that the whole team give to our customers.
The second award was in recognition for our overall service in relation to New motorhomes. Believe it or not we even went one better in this category (well three actually), by scoring an impressive 99% in the customer satisfaction survey results. Even our CEO Richard Baldwin, notorious for setting the very highest standards, conceded that this was some going and he was reported to have been heard whispering a quiet well done to all the staff ;-)
Pictured below accepting the awards on behalf of all the team who have worked tirelessly to achieve these magnificent results are Rachel Baldwin (Sales Admin) and Phil Copping (Service Technician)
27th July : A new Sheila for the Bruce's
We are all absolutely delighted to be welcoming a new appointment to our team, Sheila Clegg.
Sheila joins us as our new Service Receptionist after previously working in the same field for an International firm of Landscaping & Planning Consultants for the last eight years. Despite her youthful appearance, Sheila brings a raft of experience and knowledge to her new role and she has vowed to help and guide our previously over stretched service team to achieving even better results in our constant efforts for 100 % customer satisfaction.
Having made an immediate impact with the presentation of the service reception and with the systems and telephone handling, we and customers alike can hopefully look forward to many years of great service from her. Sheila is married for 25 years, has three grown up children, 1 dog & 5 (yes that's FIVE) cats. She also enjoys music, crafts, socialising when she has time and organising charity fun days.
Sheila is pictured below outside our Service Centre in Copley, Halifax.
20th July : The Cheshire Set
Fresh back from the Northern Motorhome Show, the RBM sales team are happy to report that their first venture into Cheshire was a happy and successful one.
A couple of counties outside their usual outdoor show stomping ground, this show was very much uncharted territory for us, commented Gary Morgan, Managing Director. But he was delighted to announce that sales were better than could reasonably have been expected and that was despite some rather inconsistent and quite unpleasant weather conditions.
Sales Manager, Paul Heeley reported that during the weekend, the team met mainly new visitors and customers as opposed to our regulars and that much of the business came from the Cheshire / North Wales / Lancashire areas which was pleasing. He went onto say that he met some really delightful families but had his hands full meeting and greeting so many of them.
The team, minus Gary who was taking the photo, can be seen on the edge of the stand ready for action and ready to grasp any opportunities that came their way.

9th July : Chinese Takeaway
We celebrated a double first this week when we sold a new Auto-Trail Arapaho to Mr Ron Gawthorpe. Ron made contact with us via our `Contact us` form on our new web site and we noted that he was making contact all the way from China !!!
After a couple of brief calls and e mails had been exchanged to try to progress the enquiry, our MD Gary had the genius brainwave of establishing better contact with the customer via Skype. This was the first of our double first so to speak and after a couple of calls face to face or moreover, computer to computer, a deal was agreed and so our second first was achieved, our first ever sale to somebody in China.
Despite being over 5,500 miles away, the Skype made the distance instantly disappear and we are now looking to continue to invest and investigate this and many other new ways of keeping our business at the forefront of motorhomes dealers. In fact we are now having to consider changing our strap line from `The North's premier award winning dealer covering Lancashire, Yorkshire and way beyond` to
`The North's premier award winning dealer covering Lancashire, Yorkshire and way way way beyond, even China !!! - Not quite as catchy but true nonetheless ;-)
2nd July : Service Questionnaire Winners for June
The winners for the `Service Questionnaire` prize draw for the month of June were as follows :-
Mr Broadbent from Rossendale, Lancashire
Mr Merry from Newark
Mr Fletcher from Leeds
Each lucky winner will receive a small token of our appreciation for completing their questionnaires and posting them back into us. Watch out in early August for an announcement on next months winners.
June 29th : Telephone issues
It has been brought to our attention that we are experiencing some issues with our telephone system. It seems that some calls are randomly being either mis-directed or they are just constantly ringing out without answer.
If this happens to you, please accept our apologies and try again as chances are that the next time it could well work all ok. Alternatively, you could try ringing our Service line on 01422 - 382 333 and leaving a message for somebody from the showroom to return your call.
We are working with BT and our own communications professionals to establish the problem and we hope to have it all sorted very soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding
June 27th : Family business
Those closest to our little family and regulars to the branch will no doubt have met at some point John Gardener and his long suffering delightful lady wife Margaret ;-)
Well they were both here at the branch again today to collect another new vehicle, only this time it wasn't theirs !
No this time, they were just excited onlookers having played chauffeur to their daughter Geraldine and son in law Adam so that they could collect their brand new Autocruise Jazz.
Geraldine & Adam (pictured below with Sales Manager Paul Heeley), had visited the NEC show in February unbeknown to there parents and had been looking closely at the Auto-Sleepers, as that is what their parents had already bought from RBM the year before. But when they met Paul on the Autocruise stand and he showed them a couple of alternatives to consider, they soon became smitten with the new model Autocruise Jazz and a deal was quickly agreed.
Having hardly slept since whilst waiting for collection, Geraldine could hardly contain herself as the excitement grew and a happier young lady you would be hard pushed to find anywhere when she set eyes on her new motorhome. Paul remarked on how nice his job was when you can make customers so happy and was heard to say that he hadn't made a woman that happy since 1972 !
Mr G was his usual self and with a cheeky grin, a nod and a wink, he was on the lookout for his commission for referring his daughter. He was last seen in deep discussion over tea and cakes with our MD but left smiling, so all must have been well in the end ;-)
MD Gary Morgan commented simply that it was always a pleasure for a family to do business, with a family business.
June 3rd : Service Questionnaire Winners for May
The winners of the `Service questionnaire` prize draw for the month of May were as follows :-
Mr Giraud from Halifax
Mr Smith from Huddersfield

May 30th : Wordsearch competition winners (7 in 1 TV/DVD)
We are delighted to announce the winner of our second wordsearch competition that was run in the Practical Motorhome magazine and in the Caravan & Motrohome Trader magazine. Again there was a massive response and thanks to all who entered the competition, but there can only be one winner and on this occasion, the lucky lady pulled out of the hat was Mrs Adshead from Cumbria. Well done to her !
May 21st : We need your Motorhome !!!
Sales continue at pace here at your favourite motorhome dealership and the trend is becoming increasingly fuelled by first timers, which is great news for us, the industry and the Country as a whole. But that said however, the flip side is that sadly we have found ourselves a little short of used stock once again and as such, it could well be the best time ever for you to sell or part exchange your motorhome if you are in a position to do so.
We have £250,000 sat here burning a hole in our pockets just waiting to be spent on purchasing good quality, clean & low mileage used stock. We are currently paying premium prices to get it either for cash or in part exchange and if it is a British manufactured, non bespoke model that you want to sell, then this is even better.
In the unlikely event that we just can't get you quite enough money for your vehicle on a straight cash sale, then perhaps we could do something for you with a legendary `Sale or Return` brokerage package, where we can usually accommodate even the most ambitious asking price.
It's always a great time to buy at RBM, but right now, it's also a really fantastic time to sell as well. So for further details on any matter appertaining to this news item, call today and ask for Paul Heeley our Sales Manager who will be delighted to assist where possible.

April 30th : RBM sponsorship with 'Royal' seal of approval
Richard Baldwin Motorhomes are proud to sponsor a locally based, but now nationally spread charity initiative named Street Angels. Pioneered in Halifax by Paul Blakey MBE, the charity uses volunteers throughout the evening and small hours to assist the public with things such as getting home safe, directions and getting taxis etc and so successful was the first scheme launched in 2005 that it has now been replicated and rolled out in around 50 other town and cities around the UK. Paul aged 35, can be seen here receiving his MBE from her Majesty the Queen who was reported to have said of the project that it seemed to be a fascinating and much needed initiative. For further information on Street Angles visit www.streetangels.org.uk
April 29th : Peterborough success
Fresh back from the recent Peterborough show, the sales team were delighted to announce the show was a success albeit a moderate one. Sales Manager Paul Heeley reported that orders were secured on the remaining couple of 09 models that were shown, on some fresh factory orders and also on some of the select used stock that was taken. Next show for us other than at base will be the new Cheshire Show in mid July, stay tuned for further details.

You are welcome to visit and chat about any of your motorhome requirements over a nice cup of tea on stand 184, next door to Travelworld American motorhomes. We will have our famous Peterborough Promo Pack available on most if not all of the vehicles on show, details of which we will only reveal at the show so that other dealers do not attempt to try and copy us as is so often the case. As usual though, you can rest assured that they will be the best offers available at the show. See you there.

We will close the competition in the next few weeks and then choose a winner, so watch the web site for further details soon.
March 22nd : Richard Baldwin Motorhomes launches new website
After some considerable investment in both time and resources, the all new rbm.co.uk website is finally up and running. The driving force and principle writer and developer behind the site Gary Morgan, stated that he is delighted with the final outcome. He went on to say that it took a long time for him to understand that the ideas he had for the site in his head could not always so easily be transferred into reality, but that the site production team had eventually managed to achieve his objectives of having the site easy to navigate, clear and informative.
March 5th : New web domain, 'rbm.co.uk' is acquired
Following a lengthy chase, the company has finally managed to secure the web domain 'rbm.co.uk'. Managing Director Gary Morgan was said to be delighted with the acquisition and commented that not only does this three letter web address bring kudos to the company image, it is also a heck of a lot easier to type into your browser than the old one. The company e mail addresses will also now be shortened to use the new abbreviated address.
Feb 28th : NEC News (ii)
Red hot of the press ..... the RBM team have just completed another fantastic show at the NEC.

As a dealer who is renowned for being `Honest` as well as `Friendly & Reliable`, we feel compelled to report the truth and that is that this show was really quite tough. General feedback from other dealers and manufacturers alike was that unit sales were down on last year and the same can be said for us.
On the plus side however, we are delighted to say that almost all of our deals were from new customers and the majority were from well outside our local area. We welcomed to the RBM family customers from as far North as Aberdeen, to as far south as Newbury and we look forward to seeing each of them again soon, as they collect their new vehicles over the coming months.
Feb 1st : NEC News
Customers old and new are welcome to come and visit us on our courtesy stand in Hall 3 at the impending Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC, 23rd - 28th February. Whether it's to discuss the finer points of putting a deal together for a new motorhome or simply just to catch up on things over a cup of tea, you will be most welcome. Call to stand 3062 right opposite the Auto-Sleepers stand.
Jan 4th : The World Famous (from Halifax) Richard Baldwin Motorhomes 'Big Thank You Weekend' - Dates
The dates are out for the most eagerly awaited event of the motorhoming calender and we can confirm them as April 9th - 11th. The gig which features the best Pie n Peas anywhere in the Northern hemisphere will have all the usual fun and frolics associated with this terrific weekend, raffles, bingo, dancing and maybe the odd sherbet !!!
There will also be a band and a heavily subsidised bar to help the night go with a swing and our resident compare / comedian `Bamber` will be on hand to ease the proceedings along. As the event is always massively over subscribed, please be sure to book your spot early to avoid disappointment.
Jan 2nd : Snow business
Happy New Year everybody.
With the continuous snow fall all around, visitors to the showroom were somewhat less than they would normally be, even at this time of the year. This however didn't dampen the spirits of our sales team and as can be seen from the picture below, the boys had a great time building a new sales office on the car park and a new 'snow` salesperson to join the team.
All was reportedly OK until the new recruit started to outsell the rest of the team, when that happened the guys put hot water on the situation ;-)
